The Butcher’s Wife

April 2003

“The Butcher’s Wife” (depicted) is another piece in the Moroccan series, part 1 of 2 (see “Butcher’s Son”). The reference for these two came from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco where I lived with these Berbers for six months. The story here is the Mother / Son relationship (they were standing next to each other). I chose to separate the two subjects instead of both in one composition. I wanted to be able to give the viewer the choice of what the story would be for each subject. What do you see in these two similar but different characters, who are related?
