This piece is a continuation of my “Study” of portraits on black board. The idea was to achieve realism using side lighting that I composed. Then to draw it using colored charcoal was the best way for this portrait to display its realism. This subject was a friend of the family and he happily posed for me as I used one-sided lighting to create the heavy contrast. This piece is considered as one of my most detailed portraits… I used a “layering” technique, which greatly adds to the realism and therefore more detail.
